About Moymo
A place to keep track of the games you play, and an attempt to build recommendations that can explain themselves.

1. What this is
Moymo is a catalogue and a library. You can look up a game, rate it, write about it, track what you are playing, and follow people whose taste you trust.
It is also an experiment. Most recommendation systems work out what is popular among people who resemble you and show you more of it. That is very good at finding the next obvious thing and very bad at finding the game nobody has told you about. We are trying to do the other one.
2. How the recommendations work
Today, games are compared through a similarity graph: two games are close when they share specific Steam user tags, IGDB keywords and themes, and when members play and like them together. Genres alone do not make two games similar, and games from the same series are never listed as each other's neighbours. Your recommendations come from that graph and from what you rate, keep and dismiss. The Terms of Service list the main parameters in full.
Where it is meant to go: instead of asking a model to produce a similarity score, we ask it to read what exists about a game - the store page, a sample of reviews, the achievement structure, the tags players applied - and answer named questions about it. How much does the story matter here. How much does it ask of your reflexes. How likely are you to put it down after twenty minutes, and why. Each answer carries a confidence and a citation, and the recommendation is then arithmetic we own, over numbers you can read.
The measured version is not finished and not switched on. Everything you see today comes from the similarity graph and the Moymo Index described in the Terms.
3. What it is not
There are no advertisements and no advertising cookies. Nothing here is ranked because somebody paid for it to be, and there is nobody who could pay.
Your data is not sold, rented or shared for anyone else's marketing. There is no business model that would require it.
It is not a store. Moymo does not sell games, does not take payments, and links out to wherever a game actually lives.
4. Where the project is
Early. The catalogue holds tens of thousands of titles, most of them with store metadata collected; a much smaller number have been described in depth.
Things will be missing, wrong, or visibly half-built. If a game's information is wrong you can suggest a correction from its page, and it will be read by a person.
5. Who runs it
Moymo is built and run by two people, David Staněk and Nicolas Milan Ficnar, as a free, non-commercial project. It is not a company, it takes no money from members and it has no employees.
That is worth saying plainly: when something breaks, or when you ask for your data, one of the two of us is on the other end, at info@moymo.net.
